He who doesn't hesitate is lost

Aside from the 5 Diamonds doubled hand, I had a pretty good day behind the wheel on Saturday. Here's an easy hand that many careless or intermediate players would mess up.
I picked up in 2nd at favorable:
K / AQ65 / A3 / AQJ854
Another potential 2 Club opener that I chose to open at the 1 level. Righty passed and I bid a Club.
Adam bid 1 Diamond. I bid 2 Hearts. Adam bid 2 Spades.
Is that natural, I wondered? I alerted it just in case. I rebid 3 Clubs. Adam rebid 3 Spades. I bid 3NT. Float.
The deuce of Diamonds was led.
AT654 / 7 / QJT986 / 6
K / AQ65 / A3 / AQJ854
You try the Queen, but it's not Christmas and Righty follows low. What's the plan?
As I said, it's a simple hand if you pause for a couple of seconds. If you want those 5 diamond tricks, you'd better overtake at trick 1 and play another diamond back. That still only gets you to 8 tricks, but most club-level opps will be intimidated by the spade holding in dummy and switch to a round suit when they're in with the Diamond. At worst you're on the club hook.
Lefty ducked and Righty pitched a spade. On the next high diamond, Righty pitched a club.
Righty had an awkward hand to pitch from, she started with
Q987 / JT92 / 4 / KT93
Of course, if she had remembered the auction, I was 95% marked with a singleton spade (having rebid clubs and bid hearts) after playing 2 rounds of diamonds, but she trusted her eyes more than her ears.
Lefty won the 3rd Diamond and played the deuce of clubs. Righty remembered the auction just in time and made the nice (and surprising) play of ducking, which saved a trick. I pounded out her King of Clubs and claimed the rest, making 5.
+460 was worth 70% of the matchpoints. We were the only pair to make 5. Three pairs made 6 when the player with KT93 of clubs decided to pitch a club or two and play the King early. One made 4. 5 pairs went down. Zero pairs made the par result of 3NT, just in. (Okay, technically the par result is 6 Diamonds in the West, but good luck with that.)
As an aside, I'm surprised Adam bid 1 Diamond with that hand. It would never occur to me to bid anything but a Spade, especially at matchpoints.
